Wolf Gannett climbed the steps up to the 101st precinct for the first time in his life. He and Peter were planning a camping trip next week and he had arranged with his twin to go over their plans during lunch. He opened the front door and stepped inside. He took a moment to take in his surroundings. So this was where Peter worked. He smiled. Even though he'd only been on leave for a week, he'd felt homesick. But here, this was like stepping into the 72nd back in Klensville. He glanced at the Sargeant manning the front desk. Only difference between this guy and Sargeant Lukes back home was the fact that this guy was much older and skinnier. He stopped in front to ask for the location of Peter's desk. "Caine? Don't you have anything better to do? Like maybe look at the case files I just dropped on your desk?" a voice called out. Wolf looked up startled. He was still going by the name Gannett. He knew his father didn't exactly understand why he hadn't had his name changed. After all, Peter had been adopted as well, but he hadn't taken the Blaisdell name. In fact, he had kept the name of Caine throughout his whole life. What his father didn't seem to realize was that Peter had known he was a Caine since birth. While he, himself hadn't found out that he was a Caine until a few years ago. Wolf might be a Caine by blood, but by name, he was a Gannett. Had that guy been talking to him or Peter? Wolf looked around for Peter. No Peter to be seen any where. As he looked down he hit upon a realization. Oh shit! He thinks I'm Peter. I knew I should have done my laundry yesterday. And now thanks to that guy, they all think I'm Peter. The sargent that was manning the desk looked up at him, his name tag said Sgt. Broderick. "What are you standing around waiting for Pete? An engraved invitation?" He made a motion of protest, "But I'm not-" he stopped. Had Peter even told them about him? If he hadn't, would he want him to? Damn it Peter. Where are you? Why aren't you here ready and waiting for me to pick you up? What the hell should I do? Wolf decided to go for the truth. Wolf sighed and looked at Sgt. Broderick. "No, I'm looking for my-" "Your desk?" Sgt. Broderick finished sarcasticly. He pointed helpfully to an empty desk near two women detectives. "It's over there. Please, be my guest and take a seat." "But-" Wolf started. Broderick lifted an eyebrow as the man who had originally yelled started forward. As the man passed Peter's empty desk one of the women stopped him with a question. "So Chief, how's Kelly?" Mary Margret Skalany asked, running interference for her partner. The man stopped in his tracks at the mention of his girlfriend. "She's fine. She's almost over the flu. She'll be back tomorrow," the Chief of Detectives replied, his facing losing his gruffness as he thought about his girlfriend. Wolf took that opportunity to carefully make his way to Peter's desk. This didn't seem like a good time to correct everybody's assumptions. As he passed the chief and sat in Peter's chair, he said, "Why don't you give her a call?" He picked up a pen with his right hand and started twirling it between his fingers. "I don't know...Are you sure? I mean she needs her rest," the man replied unsure of himself. "He did go out with her before," the blond detective on his left replied, looking up from the file she had been pretending to read. As the chief left to make a phone call, Jody turned towards Wolf. She did a double take as she saw Wolf what he was doing. He quickly dropped the pen. Her eyes widened slightly in recognition. Then shook her head as if in disbelief before turning back to her file. Wolf shook his head slightly as he thought furiously. He knew her. She had been on the movie set with Peter. Now what was her name? He always remembered the names of the girls he liked. Jody, wasn't it? Detective Jody Powell. Maybe after he got back from the camping trip, he would ask her out. He sat up abruptly. Wait a moment, did she say that Peter used to date this Kelly? Hhmmmm...they had done a lot of talking and sharing over the past week, but he didn't recall anybody named Kelly. A Jordan, yes, but not a Kelly. He'd get the story out of Peter later. Skalany looked at him, "It's a good thing you kept an extra set of clothes in the locker rooms. That coffee stain was definely not you. So when's your older brother coming to pick you up?" Wolf looked around and shrugged. He didn't know where Peter was at the moment, but the least he could do for his twin was cover for him. He knew Peter would do the same for him if the need arose. Besides, he had never gotten to do one of these twin switching things before. He rubbed his hands before picking up one of the files on Peter's desk. This could be fun.
