"What are you doing?" Cassy asked Tom as he flipped on the light switch. After leaving the Ryans' restaurant, they had returned to the house. Tom immediately headed for his parents' computer in the study. "I'm going to find Damon Caine, if its the last thing I do!" Tom exclaimed as he sat down hard on the swivel chair in front of the desk. "And do what?" Cassy demanded as Tom angrily turned on the computer and stared at the monitor. Tom seemed to deflate before her very eyes, "Cassy...I...just don't know. I just know that I have to find him. Even if its only to tell him about Mom. I'm sure he would want to know." Cassy pushed on the chair until he was facing her, "And you're curious. I understand this Tom. But if you find him, what are you going to tell him? I'm your long lost son you never knew you had?" Tom rolled angrily back towards the computer avoiding her eyes, "I don't know! Why do you keep asking me these things?" He tapped on some keys and the external modem resting on the computer tower squealed to life. Cassy watched as Tom searched through the FBI database. Upon entering the name Caine in the search query two records showed up. "What the hell?" Tom highlighted the first name. "Kwai Chang Caine. Sounds Chinese to me." He pressed the Enter button for more information. "Let's see he's a Shaolin priest who was arrested from murder a while back. He was also arrested for assault. Was thought to be dead until he served on a jury a year ago in Sloanville." "Shaolin priest?" Cassy asked. Tom shrugged, "Beats me." He clicked back out to the index and selected the next name. "Peter Caine. Doesn't sound very Chinese to me. Oh well." As the information loaded, Cassy leaned against his back to peer over his shoulder. "This guy was arrested for the murder of his girlfriend. Only he didn't do it. Turns out somebody else did and he managed to get the bad guy to confess." Tom pointed to the screen, "Look at this, he's a cop too. Says here he's part of the Sloanville Police Force. He's currently assigned to the 101st Precinct." Tom did a double take as he read the next bit of information, "It says here Kwai Chang Caine is his father." "You think they might know your father?" Cassy asked softly. "I'm not sure, but they seem like a good as place as any to start," Tom replied as he reached for the phone to call the airport. "I guess we're going to Sloanville then," Cassy sighed. She wasn't sure how she felt about any of this. And she wasn't going to be the one that would be most affected. "You don't have to go you know," Tom replied. Although it would be nice to have some support in all of this, he thought to himself. She turned back to him, "Are you going to tell your...other father?" Tom's hand paused over the number pad, "Yeah. I'll call Dad before we leave." "All right, then I'll go pack." She walked towards the doorway again before once again turning, "Make sure you book the seats for the both of us. And I get the one by the window!"
