Reminder: words in '' denote mindspeaking **** "Hi, guys, you're here to borrow a cup of sugar, right?" Peter wisecracked. A man in a suit came striding through the dark warriors. He stroked his dark beard. "Who the hell are you?" Tom demanded, nervously looking at the men surrounding them. What the hell was going on? Men with swords? He'd seen a lot of things while working at the Palm Beach Police Department, but never this. And the odds seemed just a bit unreal here. He quickly recounted. Yup, seven to one odds were definely unfavorable in his book. He glanced at Wolf out of the corner of his eye, then at Peter on the other side. Shouldn't the twins be a bit more worried? Those men were carrying sharp pointed objects, and, unless the twins were carrying hidden swords like the Highlander, they were as disadvantaged as he. "Since you will all die anyway, it won't hurt to tell you. I am Lo Tou, Damon's replacement." Tou gloated, circling his prizes. "Tou. It figures, it would be you." Wolf spat out. "How did you find us?" Lo Tou chuckled evily and pulled an object out of his pocket. Wolf's eyes widened as he saw what it was, "Damon's beeper! How did you get it?" If this man had it, that meant that Damon never got his message. Shit! There went their last option. He'd have to think about this later. For now, he had to concentrate on the situation at hand. "On his way out, he left a few things." Tou deftly pocketed the beeper. "But enough of this." "Wait!" Peter interrupted. "You never told us how you knew we were here, as in this spot right here. As I recall, Wolf said that we were at Pop's." Tou waved a hand as if it didn't matter. "That was easy. I just walked up to your police station and asked for Caine. Your fellow officers were very helpful." Peter's eyes widened at the information. "You walked up to the police station?" When he found out who spilled the beans, he was going to...going to...well he'd decide that later. First they had to get out of this mess. Peter blinked as he saw a movement behind Tou. 'We are here, my sons," Kwai Chang Caine's voice intoned mentally. The men around the younger Caines shifted accordingly while Tou continued to gloat, not suspecting a thing. Tou faltered as he saw his men move. "What is it?" One of the men silently pointed with his sword. Tou whirled around to see Caine, Matthew, and Martin descending upon him and his men. Mary Margaret, Jody, and Cassy stood by their sides with their fire arms cocked and aimed, like avenging angels ready for a fight. The twins and Tom quickly joined into the fight. Tom watched admiringly as the twins seemed to fight in synch with each other. Whoops! Tom ducked just in time as a sword tried to decapitate him. "Hey! What do I look like? A freaking immortal? Geez!" Tom took a chance and kicked the other man in the knee. His crippled opponent staggered back. That wasn't so bad. He groaned as another came up to take the cripple's place. Matthew used his cane to parry off attacks as Martin and the girls fired. Caine was fighting his own battle with Tou. "You'll never defeat me." Tou pulled out a gun of his own. Caine carefully circled him, looking for an opening. Tou gave a start as Tom shouted, "There can be only one!" Caine quickly heated up the gun in Tou's hand. Tou dropped it with a muttered oath as he briefly glared in Tom's direction and ran. His men lay scattered and wounded on the ground. The ones that could still move valiantly dragged some of their comrades off the battlefield. Cassy started walking towards Tom, grimacing at the carnage around her. "There can be only one?" Tom grinned sheepishly. "I was getting into the sword thing, okay? Besides, it worked great as a distraction, didn't it?" "Yes," Caine replied with a grin of his own. Cassy shook her head. She saw a movement behind her partner. "Tom look out!" Tom turned around just as the guy he had crippled in the knee rose up and lunged with his sword. This time there was no time to duck.
